- Customer Reviews
Mario Batali, one of the country’s top chefs, has partnered with Vic Firth Gourmet on the design of the stylish “Mario” Signature Series of peppermills and salt mills.
Exacting chefs want and need complete control over the seasoning of their dishes—and Vic Firth Gourmet mills give them precise control through a patented “Lock and Grind” grinding system. Vic Firth Gourmet salt mills use a nylon crushing system to deliver variable granularity for salt.
Vic Firth is able to maintain these highest standards of quality, and offer a lifetime guarantee, because they manufacture all of their wood products in Newport, Maine. The mill was built in 1856, and today they are the largest private employer in the area. In 2007, Vic Firth received the Pine Tree Award—the highest recognition a factory can receive in the state of Maine. It signifies Vic Firths commitment to expanding the labor force, exploring innovative improvements in manufacturing and being “green”.
Protecting the environment has always been a priority for Vic Firth. The majority of wood they purchase is from a local FSC certified supplier, and have encouraged their entire vendor base to participate in this valuable program as well. All of Vic Firth's scrap and sawdust are collected and sent to wood fired boilers for use as fuel.
