Xanadu Decaffeinated Teas
Decaffeinated teas begin as any single-origin teas, but are sent to Europe to have their caffeine removed. All Xanadu decaffeinated teas are naturally decaffeinated by either the Supercritical Carbon Dioxide or Ethyl Acetate method. Both compounds are completely natural, and do a remarkable job of dissolving and removing caffeine from the leaves, without sacrificing excessive amounts of flavor. These decaf teas can later be blended or flavored, just like a regular tea.
Decaf Apricot Arabesque: The apricot, which tree-ripens at the end of summer, has been a favorite fruit of the Near East for generations untold. Xanadu Exotic Teas from Ceylon
The tiny island of Sri Lanka exports as much tea as India. Teas here are graded by their region and elevation. The higher the altitude, the better the grade.
Ruhuna Highland Estate OP (Strong Black Tea) : (Formerly "Kenilworth Highland Estate OP") Ceylon's rugged central mountains are home to the incomparable Ruhuna Estate, in the cool clouds at 2,500 feet above the Indian Ocean. Here the tea leaves grow very slowly, producing teas of intense fragrance and flavor. The rare "O.P." grade, the abbreviation for "Orange Pekoe" (contrary to common thought, having no reference to the taste of orange, they are instead anglicized words taken from the 17th century Chinese tea trade) denotes the cherished largest pieces of leaf. This fine Xanadu tea creates an extraordinary golden-colored cup that is perfect as an afternoon or evening tea. Strongly flavored, with a pleasantly assertive quality, this tea may be enjoyed black, or with a splash of milk for extra richness.
Ceylon Supreme #1 (Strong Black Tea): The district of Dimbula produces this tea, one of the world's finest and most challenging to harvest. Grown at over 2,000 feet in the south-central mountains of Ceylon, this tea is harvested by hand in January and February when the leaves are young and tender, filled with the maximum amount of flavor. After harvest, Ceylon Supreme #1 leaves are quickly withered to soften the leaves and concentrate the flavor, and rolled repeatedly into their circular shape. The flavor of Ceylon Supreme #1 is full, with a dark amber extraction. Smooth - with a remarkable depth enhanced by its moderate acidity - this Xanadu tea may be enjoyed black, or with a bit of milk for extra richness.

Xanadu Exotic Teas of China
The botanical home of the tea plant and the kingdom of Kubla Khan's Xanadu. The Chinese perfected the art of tea cultivation and the method of brewing.
Anhui Keemun Congou (Medium Black Tea): The most famous of all China black teas grown in southern Anhui in the beautiful mist-filled mountains near the present day city of Qimen. Revered since ancient years for its tea, Qimen was strictly off-limits to the early European traders seeking to discover the secrets of making tea. Interestingly, "Congou" is the anglicized word for the Chinese ideograms representing "Kung Fu," a revealing glimpse into the entwinment of tea and philosophy in ancient China. This tea is characterized by a long, slender, tightly rolled leaf, with an orchid-like aroma. Keemun teas are treasured for their brilliant red liquor, with their unique, naturally sweet flavor and alluring aroma. Perfect for afternoon or evening enjoyment, this tea is delicious by itself, or can be enjoyed with milk or sugar.
Temple of Heaven (Mild Green Tea): Also known as Pinhead Gunpowder because its tightly rolled leaves resemble powder used in cannons on 18th century British ships. Unlike much of the lesser quality "gunpowder" teas that are bulk packed for export, Xanadu Temple of Heaven is meticulously hand packed into very small containers for protection and to preserve freshness and quality. Temple of Heaven, a green tea, surrenders a cup rich in flavor, with a surprisingly full body. When fully steeped, the tender whole leaves unfurl, spilling out deep rich flavor.
Young Hyson (Mild Green Tea): Noted for its long, twisted leaf, pale green hue and delicate sweet flavor, Young Hyson is seldom available on world markets. The harvest of this green tea is tedious, hand plucking only the youngest, most succulent new leaves. Grown at over 3,000 feet altitude in the mountains of western China, Hyson teas are hand-harvested and quickly steamed, rolled and fired to preserve the delicate "fresh from the garden" flavor. "Hyson" is literally translated from the Chinese "yu-chien," meaning leaves harvested earliest in the spring "Before the Rains". "Young" Hyson tea is created strictly from the youngest, most succulent and flavorful new leaves. Because of the extreme difficulty of harvesting these tiny leaves, the tea is a source of considerable pride from the tea workers. So popular was this tea in 18th century England, that Pariament levied its highest tariffs on Young Hyson. This lovely tea is characterized by a long twisted leaf, which yields a cup with a smooth, pale green hue and a delicate sweet flavor. Enjoy this tea as brewed, without milk or sugar.
Green Dragonwell (Mild Green Tea): (Previously Zhejiang Dragonwell) Originating near the fabled city of Hangzhou, and caressed by the steady onshore wind off the East China Sea, this exquisite tea is spring-harvested by hand, then quickly steamed and gently fired in large wok-like pans. It is grown near an ancient Taoist temple honoring an especially gentle dragon reputed to be living inside a nearby well. Of the several thousand types of Chinese tea, Xanadu Dragonwell from Zhejiang Province is the most highly sought-after green tea China produces. A perfect all day tea traditionally enjoyed while contemplating the beauty and meaning of life. Xanadu Green Dragonwell proffers a light, nearly transparent white jade colored liquor, with an aroma both sweet and herb-like. Drink this tea straight up, never adding milk or sugar. Xanadu Exotic Teas of Formosa
Formosa (Taiwan) is noted for the fine oolong teas it produces. Teas came to Formosa over two centuries ago from eastern China.
Black Dragon Choicest Oolong (Mild Oolong Tea): Formosa oolongs capture the finest flavor and aromatic qualities of green and black teas. In early summer, leaves are harvested, steamed and carefully wrapped in small soft blankets for gentle hand kneading. This tea yealds a honey-colored mild liquor, with a flowery sweetness and delicate ripe, peach-like aroma.
Classic Oolong (Medium Oolong Tea): Formosa's long tradition of creating elegant and splendid oolongs continues, although exquisite teas of this caliber are not widely available in America. Medium flavor strength, this amber colored tea offers a subtle, delicate note of fresh, ripened fruit.
Panfired Green (Medium Green Tea): This simple, elegant green tea is still created in the traditional family style. Leaves are hand harvested, then steamed and fired in a large iron pan. Assam Estate TGFOP (Strong Black Tea): Nestled between Tibet and Burma lies the Assam Valley, where Xanadu's Estate tea is hand harvested before monsoons sweep up the valley. Darjeeling Lingia Estate TGFOP (Medium Black Tea): Cloaked in clouds, at the base of the Himalayan Mountains, lie the gardens of Darjeeling. Here the Lingia Estate harvests its second flush teas while they are a mere one week old. The resulting tea is well-balanced, medium strength, and flavorful. Darjeeling tea of this caliber is rarely found in America.

Xanadu Exotic Teas from Japan

Genmaicha (Medium Green Tea): Genmaicha is a brilliant example of the art of tea. Its young leaves are hand-harvested from the carefully tended tea bushes of Shizuoka Prefecture.
